2021 Exam Results Appeal Information

 

Every student has the right the right to appeal their grade. When deciding whether to appeal their grade, students should:

· Talk to a senior member of staff on results day about the evidence used to determine their grade and any special circumstances that apply to them.

· Read our Centre Policy and other appeals information and advice and guidance.

Please note that appealed grades can go down, go up or stay the same.

Stage 1: Centre Review

The college will investigate whether all processes were correctly followed to check for:

Administrative errors: For example, if an incorrect assessment mark was used to determine the final grade.

Procedural errors: For Example, mitigating circumstances were not taken into account, such as Exams Access Arrangements.

To submit a stage 1 appeal, complete a centre review request form and return it to the exams office. This can be access through the following link:

 

 

Stage 1 Appeal Form 2021

Forms completed electronically or scanned can be returned to cslater@brixhamcollege.co.uk

Once the form has been returned, the college will complete and internal review. Contact with the students via email once the internal review has been completed and the outcome of the review shared. We will aim to respond to all review requests as within 5 working days.

Deadline for Stage 1 Appeals to be submitted:

 Priority Appeals*: 16th August

Non- Priority Appeals: 3rd September

* Priority Appeals are only available to students starting university this autumn who have not met the conditions of their firm offer.

Stage 2: Appeal to the Awarding organisation

 

Students who do not believe that their query has been resolved at Stage 1 may request that an appeal is submitted to the Awarding Organisation. This is a Stage 2 appeal.

A Stage 2 appeal investigated whether:

· The grade reflects a reasonable exercise of academic judgement

· The college followed all procedures correctly

· An administrative error was made by the Awarding organisation after the Centre Assessed Grades were submitted by the college.

To submit a Stage 2 appeal, complete an Awarding Organisation Appeal Request Form and return to cslater@brixhamcollege.co.uk

Once the form has been received, our Examinations and Data Manager will confirm receipt.
