March 10, 2026 12:17pm

The Palace Theatre in Paignton is gearing up to welcome Brixham College as well as five other schools in the Torbay region for our first ever TSAT Takeover later this month.

On 17th March 2026, audiences will be treated to two performances taking place at 4:30pm and 7pm, as each school will showcase themselves through a range of performing arts and design.

The evening will see Brixham College, Curledge Street Academy, Furzeham Primary and Nursery School, Kings Ash Academy, and Paignton Academy perform a range of dance and music, while Lodestar Academy will display a variety of artwork specially curated and designed for the event.

Graeme Hardman, Head of Music and Drama at Brixham College, is excited about the prospect of a performance full of creativity which represents an important milestone for the arts in the region.

“The TSAT Takeover event promises to be a brilliant spectacle and to stand alongside all the schools in Torbay to perform is a huge privilege.

“Here at Brixham College, our students have been working tirelessly to put on an incredible show and I’m confident the audience will really love it”

This takeover will be the first time where every school in the Torbay region will come together under one roof to showcase the strength of performing arts in our primary and secondary settings.

Emma Hammond, Artsmark Lead at Curledge Street Academy, spoke about the opportunity to involve primary school children at the event as well as secondary pupils.

“It’s an incredible experience for our children to perform at a theatre and be involved in the TSAT Takeover event; they’re all very excited about it!

“I hope having the opportunity to watch older students perform will inspire them to continue their creative arts journey and passion for performing, through their secondary education and beyond”.

Jay Davenport, Regional Director for the south west region, is looking forward to seeing the progress of creative subjects within schools, recognising the event will be a testament to the dedication of staff and students involved.

“I’m incredibly proud of the work of all our schools in Torbay who will unite in the name of performing arts and design to deliver what I expect to be a brilliant occasion.

“Supporting children right from when they join us in their early years to becoming young adults is a real privilege, and I’m delighted to be able to transform the life chances of so many in the south west through dance, drama, music and art”

There are still tickets available through The Palace Theatre’s website or just £5 when you buy on the door, providing an accessible way to support the performing arts sector in Devon.

If anyone has any further questions about the event, guests are advised to email info@palacetheatrepaignton.co.uk or call 01803 665800.
