Year 7 Students at Brixham College to Experience the World of Work First‑Hand
Brixham College is excited to launch a new initiative designed to strengthen careers education and help students gain a clearer understanding of the world of work. Careers Education—including information, advice and guidance—is a statutory requirement for all students, and from this academic year, Key Stage 3 students must also have opportunities to engage with employers and explore real working environments.
To support this, Brixham College is introducing its first Year 7 Take Your Child to Work Day, taking place on Thursday 5 February 2026. This special day will give Year 7 students the chance to accompany a parent, carer, or close family member to their workplace, offering a valuable insight into what a real working day looks and feels like.
The aim is to help students feel more confident and informed as they begin to think about their future pathways. By observing everyday routines, responsibilities and teamwork, students can start to build an early understanding of the skills and behaviours that are valued in the workplace.
This initiative marks the beginning of a wider programme of careers‑focused activities planned at Brixham College throughout the year, ensuring every student is supported to explore their aspirations and the many possibilities ahead of them.
