Year 6 into Year 7 Transition

Year 7 Students – September 2025

My name is Mr Brown and I am the Transition Lead at Brixham College.

I have recently received a list of those students who have been offered a place here and am delighted that your child will be starting with us in September.

Shortly, you will receive an email requesting some important information that we require in order to ensure that your child’s transition to the College is as stress free and exciting as possible. We use emails extensively to communicate with you so it is important that this information is accurate. I firmly believe that if a student is happy at their chosen school, they will attend and engage in their studies to ensure they reach their own potential.

I will be visiting students in their primary school and chatting to their class teachers. Your child will complete a brief form identifying friend choices and tell me about their hobbies and interests outside of school. Any safeguarding or SEN details will also be passed through the relevant secure channels to the specialist staff at the College. For students who require additional transition, this will be coordinated through their primary school so please feel free to discuss this with their Year 6 teacher.

We currently have a welcome evening planned on Thursday 8 May 2025 at 6pm, which will provide the opportunity to share information about induction days, transport and uniform. In the meantime, if you have any questions then please email me at bc-transitions@brixham-college.org.uk.
